Artist Statement:

Since childhood He has loved drawing creatures, characters, and things of that nature.  He has always had a love for history, and has loved drawing warriors from history.  He primarily draws things straight from imagination with at least some basis on reality.  More recently he is working in digital painting and drawing.  Most of the characters that he create are for the intent to inform the purpose and place of a character.  He hopes to go on to create character and creature concepts for movies or video games, or to become a freelance illustrator.

The majority of the time he spends drawing is coming up with new ideas for a creature or a character, or just doodling some warrior from antiquity.  A big part of that process is imagining the story or background of a character or creature.  Where does he/she/it live?  What does it do?  And why?  This stems from his love of history and stories and crosses over with a very visual mind to produce something that could be used as a viable character.  Just take a look at his sketch book, it is literally full of random warriors, creatures, and monsters drawn free hand out of his imagination.

Jacob Jones has a good way to go in front of him, learning new techniques and developing a solid portfolio.  He is excited to learn and to grow and discover a great career out in the concept art or illustration industry, and who knows what else.
